WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao issued a statement is ready to fight undefeated WBC welterweight champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. as his top priority in his first fight this year. This is confirmed by Pacquiao after their meeting with Top Rank Promotions President Bob Arum. According to Pacquiao, they just wait for confirmation from the Mayweather camp if they agree to 50-50 revenue sharing in the fight.
“I can fight Mayweather last week of May, as long as he says ‘yes’ to a 50/50 split,” said the Filipino world boxing champion.
If the most awaited fight by Pacquiao and Mayweather will progress, stating that both fighters will get at least $ 50 million to $ 60 million earned. But if Floyd Jr. does not agree to fight Pacquiao in the last week of May, other possible fighters that Pacquiao will face are Timothy Bradley, Lamont Peterson, Miguel Cotto, and Juan Manuel Marquez.
Yesterday, Mayweather, who has a history of calling out Pacquiao but fighting other boxers instead, has again challenged the Filipino champion on May 5th. In his official Twitter page, Mayweather challenged Pacquiao that they have to satisfy all the boxing fans around the world.
“Manny Pacquiao I’m calling you out let’s fight May 5th and give the world what They want to see,” said Floyd Jr. … My jail sentence was pushed back because I was locked in the date. Step up Punk. “
Meanwhile, some members of Team Pacquiao bluff Mayweather message saying that Mayweather’s strategy to deliver the Twitter challenge. According to Pacquiao supporters, they don’t take Floyd’s tweet seriously as usual ever, before and inconsistent demands and impossible. While Manny has long been saying that he wanted to fight Mayweather before.
Some of Team Pacquiao tell Mayweather, “Don’t use the Internet such as Twitter for negotiations rather sign the contract and talk polite.”
For me, sending a contract to Pacquiao’s camp is the right thing to do, not twitting on Twitter. That is if Mayweather really want to fight Pacquiao. But anyway, doing that (Mayweather’s twitting) makes the fans more interested, it is another way of advertising the fight. I believe the two will eventually meet at the squared ring because they will no longer able to avoid the craving of the fans and there are no more reasons to avoid it. Mayweather and Pacquiao, should need to fight, I just don’t know when, but they will.
