Floyd Mayweather Jr. will seek another fight if the proposed mega-fight will not materialize this May 5th (Cinco de Mayo). And Mayweather sees someone who could gave him a better challenge against world middleweight champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez of Argentina. Floyd Mayweather said that he would have to look to other options. In a press conference in the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, the undefeated boxer once again emphasized his earlier declaration that “Manny Pacquiao is the only fight I want.”
“Manny Pacquiao is the only fight I want. But, but, but if he won’t fight me then I will have to fight someone else. I have to make a living,” Mayweather stated.

Mayweather said he is interested in making a fight against Martinez who is a former WBC and WBO middleweight champion. He is also the current The Ring middleweight titlist.
“If Sergio Martinez can make 150 (pounds), we can make the fight, absolutely,” he said. “I think he has a very, very impressive style.”
“There are no excuses,” Mayweather said. “If he can make 150, let’s make it happen. I’m little, but different from the other guys.”
Martinez said he is willing to go down to 150 pounds just to fight Mayweather. He is also open to random drug testing.
“Of course. I have never cheated in my life. Any sportsman that failed a doping test deserves the hardest punishment. Regarding the weight, everything is in accord with my work team, and it’s possible to make it without weakening myself,” said Martinez.
“We are working on a long-term plan to stabilize my weight at 154 pounds in case a fight with Mayweather can be organized,” Martinez said.
The 36-year-old Argentine (48-2-2), named 2010 Fighter of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America, said that Manny Pacquiao was reluctant to take him on. That is why Manny Pacquiao will going to fight on June and next opponent will be one of the four candidates – Juan Manuel Marquez, Timothy Bradley, Miguel Cotto and Lamont Peterson..
Mayweather dismissed as potential rivals WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez and former lightweight champion Robert Guerrero. GBP also said that Mayweather next opponent will not be Guerrero. Mayweather repeated that statement, saying, “I don’t even know who this guy (Guerrero) is“. As for Canelo Alvarez, does not have enough experience yet, Mayweather said.
“I think he needs some more experience under his belt, and then eventually, we can make the fight happen down the line,” he said.
As for Pacquiao’s leftover (Cotto). Mayweather admitted that he is reluctant to face the Puerto Rican junior middleweight champion.
“I think Cotto is a very good match-up, but once again, if I go against Cotto, the fans and people will say that it’s Pacquiao’s leftovers,” he said.
